Join the Larkspur Library online with WildCare for Feathers, Fur, and Scales. Our wildlife educator will showcase their amazing adaptations, share what they eat, threats they face in the wild, and their rescue stories. We will learn the difference and similarities between these three groups of invertebrates and will leave a couple of minutes at the end for questions from the audience. This event is part of the Larkspur Library’s Summer Reading, Reading Colors Your World. 4. Meet the Author: Betty Ann Bruno

    July 30, 2021, 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Betty Ann Bruno was born in Hawaii and raised in California. During her childhood in Hollywood, she was a Munchkin in The Wizard of Oz and acted in a number of other movies including The Hurricane with Jon Hall and Dorothy Lamour. All the stories are personal and intimate, but perhaps the most personal story was the one about her struggle with her ethnic identity. She wrote about confronting that issue head-on in her mid-20s by taking a certain day-time job in San Francisco and hula lessons in the evening. Now, in retirement, she teaches hula and Hawaiian culture in the small California town of Sonoma which has named her its Treasure Artist of 2020-21. Over the years people have encouraged Betty Ann to make her stories into a book, and 2020's lock-down gave her the time to do it. Here it is - The Munchkin Diary, My Personal Yellow Brick Road. This event is made possible by the Friends of the Larkspur Library.
